How this stays honest
The corpus is a fixed set of real Press Information Bureau press releases (pib.gov.in), each published in up to 16 Indian languages — so every query has a genuine ground-truth match: the same release in another language. This is a cross-lingual showcase, not a live model-versus-model race — at title length the raw base already scores high, so what you watch is the retrieval reaching the same release across scripts. The audited +27.9% Recall@1 retrieval gain is measured on the fuller title-body held-out evaluation reported on the model card, not on this title-only demo set.
